I received a letter from BCBS of Illinois in early Nov, 2015 saying my policy has been canceled as of Sept 2015 for non-payment. Yet when I checked my bank statements, BCBS had taken the money out for October and November.

After calling twice, they admitted that they were at fault for canceling the policy and drafting the payments but could not tell me who had done it or why. They said they were sending me a refund check for the 2 months of premiums. I told them I never asked them to do that and I just wanted to be re-instated. Then they told me that to get the policy restated immediately I would need to pay $1826.73, which was about $123 more than my monthly premium.

When I asked how they arrived at that amount, the representative said she didn't know and would have someone call me back to explain. Since my wife had taken time off to make several hard-to-get doctor appointments, I gave them an electronic check over the phone. Of course, no one called me back on the day they were supposed to, so I had to call again and talked to someone who made me wait for 10 minutes on the phone while he read the notes on the case, only to tell me the refund check was on the way and to call back then. Tomorrow will be a week since they told me they sent the refund check and no one can explain the amount I had to pay to get re-instated.

They are totally incompetent, uncaring and disorganized. I am disgusted and felt I was the one who was made to suffer for their self-admitted mistakes.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Monetary Loss: $1826.

Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.

Exactly! There needs to be some kind of solution for all of these issues the customers are having, starting with better trained reps!

People are paying so much money and for what? For other people (reps) to screw up your information and have you, the customer, pay for it?! In time & in money?!

BCBS has gone completely downhill. Time to switch insurance companies!
